Bangladesh ~ April 2010

I am going to Bangladesh in April for 2 weeks on a World Vision Seeder Trip!!

What's a Seeder Trip?

World Vision Canada is in the midst of building an interactive website for their sponsors. This new website will allow sponsors to build a virtual community by connecting online with individual ADP's (Area Development Projects) and with other sponsors supporting those ADP's. The aim is to create a more active sponsorship experience.

The website will have relevant content created by Canadian volunteers who have visited the community...which is were I (and the other 9 people in the group) come in. We will be creating the content for this newly designed website, personal stories of what we see, hear, feel, and experience while visiting the WV community. We'll be able to testify to the work that is happening in the community and can help engage other Canadians in the process by sharing the stories of the children and families who live in a World Vision ADP.

So basically we'll be writing, online networking, blogging, taking photos, videos, etc. and posting them on the new website! Cool, eh?

But as volunteer seeders, we have to:

* Sponsor 1 child in the ADP we are visiting and get a minimum of one other child sponsored from that same ADP.

* Get at least 5 people (preferably sponsors or potential sponsors) to become members of the online test site before and/or after the trip.

* Pay for our own flight

* Pay for a portion of the trip price. This is for fees incurred while we are in Bangladesh: accommodations, transportation, food, etc.

* Continue to help maintain the website upon our return home for a period of time. This includes participating in on-line discussions. WVC will also solicit feedback on the site for future upgrades.

The ADP that we will be visiting in Bangladesh is near Chittagong on the Bay of Bengal in the south-eastern part of the country.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

* Consider sponsoring a child from this ADP. It's only $35/month. Then take part in the online community and interact with what is happening there.

* If you are unable to sponsor a child, but are computer savvy, consider taking part in the online community for the length of the test project while we are in Bangladesh and then for about a month afterwards.
